With all the scowling and neutral expressions, a smiling Fireblade will be jarring.
Something for Alex to catch her off guard in her dreams with perhaps? Then make reference to it in the real world, dropping a very personal bombshell for Little Miss Mindbullets.
The delay is no problem.
I'm glad you did not update on 1 April....
But never been in the month of Match yet.
Is this the time to find the love of my life?
Oh yeah, now we're going to start!
How long have they been hiding in the shuttle?
Because the Umiak had to catch the shuttle which was on a high-speed trajectory system-outwards, tow it into their shuttle bay, fly back to the jump point, and prepare for jump (align trajectory), and all of that while no sensor showed heat signatures on the shuttle....
With all the scowling and neutral expressions, a smiling Fireblade will be jarring.
Its like season 1 of Castle all over again.
What? I liked Castle

I am considering Alex's advice for my next Traveller gaming group.
"About 30 minutes before reaching the jump point, the ship's steward stops by your cabin and offers diazepam, earplugs, and mouthguards for sale . . ."

Hooray! This is the first update to the comic since finding it back in December. It's been worth the wait.
So, making a hyperspace jump really is like going through the star gate at the end of 2001: A Space Odyssey? Who knew? Kubrick's prescience is truly amazing. I also have it on good authority that Vicodin and Oxycontin taken together are very helpful for maintaining a slack jaw. Probably a good combo for a hyperspace jump...if you don't mind the drooling as a side effect.
On the subject of Fireblade...I'm kind of puzzled by her reaction here. If she's that unhappy about Alex having a weapon, surely she could have countermanded Beryl and said, "No way. No guns for Pinkie." Unless perhaps Tempo made the decision to arm him if he agreed to participate, overriding Fireblade's objections. Maybe that's what they were conferring about back on page 200?

Has anyone mentioned that the index page says "30 Match 2022" ?

Heavy Metal taught us 30 years ago to always keep some Nyborg around for "long trips."
Has anyone mentioned that the index page says "30 Match 2022" ?
Arioch lives in California so it was bound to be the 30th of March even when most of the world was at the 31st.
That also explains the take drugs suggestion!

On the matter of the mentioned vibrations during jump. Is this something that happens despite your tech level or equipment within the Outsider setting?
I can imagine that human jump technology might be cruder then what the Loroi and Umiak use, so the latter might be able to have easier transitions through hyperspace?

I think the Loroi ships had best acceleration, so they propably got best inertial dampers, while Umiak philosophy has been that any comfort is unnecessary luxury, so if you get weak stomach during jump, they might actually replace your stomach for more efficient without anesthesics instead of providing the medicine for nausea, so the transition might be even worse at Umiak than on Human ships.
