Whatever happened to it? The last thing I see about RPing on this site is a campaign that died in 2009... :<

There isn't much to do, if GM disappear.

But if people are interested, I might try start a game of cargoship Rustbucket, years before first contact with Orgus.

Curious choice as it is over 200 years after Loroi Civil war and almost 100 years before first contact with Umiak.
Or are you thinking of alternate history, where Loroi find earth?

Neither I. Everyone have their first times.

Maybe. Alternate history is cool, and I sometimes wonder what Messrs Bush or Obama would say to the Diadem... :P

Would either of you be interested in GMing? Because I wouldn't be comfortable behind the screen and would probably monumentally fuck it up <~<

I'm not good of storymaker, but I could try convert some old D&D adventure or provide a sandbox for characters to explore their inner self. But because I have grown with russian scifi, you will probably see more empty space and gritty survival with faulty equipments than action hero scenes.

LOL. I'm in WAAAAAY too many games to have the time to run reliably... I'm also running a high-level Pathfinder Game {all the characters are 13th level borderline 14th}. But I'm cool for whatever is played or suggested.

I had fun playing a Mars survival game in Traveller New Era.

The story in general was society had collapsed and the Mars colonists had to scramble to make themselves TOTALLY self sufficient {nobody realized how much they depended upon regular shipments of supplies from offworld until after the virus struck and all regular space travel stopped}. I played a ex-marine who was eaking out and existance on the martian surface with the rest of the say 40,000 suvivors. Working to keep oxygen production up and salvage to sell for air-credits. He came across a simple crashed orbital shuttle that was mostly intact but needed repairs he did not have the skills to make, but it seemed a shame to just salvage the hell out of it as would happen if he told where it was to the general population it could be repaired if some one had the skills and.. in his opinion 'mankind must reclaim space at some point'...

The setting was like Road Warrior on mars as there were a lot of bandits and cannibals that raided the few communities left for air, food and fuel. My ex-marine had a solar recharging utility truck and LOTS of weapons he roamed the lawless surface of Mars salvaging anything he could find.

The game plot took off when he found a Bandit lair made out of an old wreck fuel refinery and found the bandits had found a starship escape low-berth escape pod with survivors still in stasis sleep. There had been about 20 of them. A military engineering crew mostly all women. They had killed.. and eaten.. likely done worse to them before that most of the 'sleepers' but Karl {my character} found one tube still functioning they had been saving... a beautiful female lieut. engineer. Well Karl killed all the bandits and... mercifully cleaned up the pumping station of all the grizzly remains of the other engineers before waking the young lady from the sleep pod. Brenda was her name if I recall... {another player's character} and she had all the skills of a 3rd Imperium Military ship's engineer...the STUPID lustful and cruel cannibal bandits had NO IDEA... the wealth of information they had abused, raped and finally ate - denying it to mankind over their inhumane cruelty. With Lt. Brenda's help Karl could repair the orbital shuttle indeed a military orbital shuttle and he had the first working spaceship on Mars in over 70 years!

Karl had spent waaaay to much time alone and dealing with the harsh Martian environment killing scumbag violent bandits that having a young lovely mosly non-combatant in his company was a real disturbance to his mostly solitary life. The little romance that slowly developed between them was very cute as the game went along and the plot of reclaiming the stars for mankind unfolded...

Cool game.

Now my point... action and adventure are where you make them and how you present them! :)

I have this crazy idea for boardgame/tabletop survival.

Basicly every player gets one loroi ship with a ship sheet with statistics, resource and crew count. Every turn a randomized umiak fleet jumps into the battlefield gradualy swarming the place. The players must kill as many umiak as they can, jump away to another place, repair, refuel, rearm and again, again. Simple mechanics to determine umiak behavior (a deck of cards perhaps for their movements and attacks). Maybe some misson goals or story campaign?

This could be fun...

I recall some JRPG or another having a "fight off the endless hordes" mode like that. It sounds fun :3

But, who says it always has to be bugs? You could just as easily do it with other species on either side, or humans, or even other factions of Loroi, if you feel like going back that far.

A RP in the Outsiderverse? That sounds like fun to me. :)
I have some experience as a GM, but mostly in a fantasy setting based on "the dark eye" (="das Schwarze Auge" in German, no idea how it is really called in english) and I have no clue how to GM a game on a BBS.
What kind of game system will be used? GURPS?

GMing is not that hard to lern. All you need is a story (some plotpoints at least), some maps, NPCs (very important!), some crazy ideas if a player derails your plot and last but not least: you have to know the universe and the rules. The rest is normaly filled by the players and your own fantasy. ;)

If you start a game, you can select any system you want.

Well, I do not have a GURPS rulebook and adapting some fantasy RPG rules to a Sci-Fi setting could take a while.
But I will look into it when I´m back home again, if you like.

A possible story that comes to my mind whould be a Loroi diplomatic mission to earth. The characters could be a mixture of humans and loroi, and could further explore the differences between the two species, while facing an unexpected threat.
What do you think?

I'd be up for anything! No matter the story. Play-by-post is the closest thing I get to outsider story fix considering Arioch's busy schedule. We can only patiently wait ...but PBP {play by post} is a good substitute for fun!

One of the games we tried here already used the "Big Eyes, Small Mouth" / 'Tri-Stat' game system. {Not - Big Breasts, Small Waist lol!} It worked mostly fine for the brief run of the game... Incursion if you want the system post a throw-away e-mail address and I'll zip and e-mail the 3rd edition rule book to you... as the game system by "Guardians of Order" is out of print nowadays.
