Challenge: How to set up a prank for the TCA

Post by novius »

Imagine the Loroi actually having made it towards the humans and it would be the first contact of the Loroi with, say, a scout squadron...

What could Alex say/do to the Loroi that could turn out into a prank to the humans in turn?

Some ideas...
  1. Teach the Loroi the Vulcan salute and the iconic "Peace and long life"
  2. Or, the other way round, suggest the Loroi that out of the delegation, have one or two dress up in tan robes, complete with a metallic cylindrical object fastened to their hips. (Bonus: Exactly two, both in dark hooded robes and with sinister looking face markings)

"The Loroi Union has recently intercepted radio messages from Terra
and look forward to friendly future relations with people of such similar fortitude and interests to our own,
as embodied by your great leader, Herr Hitler."

Problem is, the Loroi see their own genetics as superior, I fear the joke would be lost on them. (But then, that's the prank)

To me the joke would be that they'd received radio broadcasts from the 30s and assumed Hitler had taken his place as a global leader.
Though I guess the Loroi form of government is more byzantine than the italian and german forms. Maybe they'd prefer the austro-hungarian or german empire.

Encyclopædia Britannica wrote:Although fascist parties and movements differed significantly from one another, they had many characteristics in common, including extreme militaristic nationalism, contempt for electoral democracy and political and cultural liberalism, a belief in natural social hierarchy and the rule of elites, and the desire to create a Volksgemeinschaft (German: “people’s community”), in which individual interests would be subordinated to the good of the nation.
The Loroi check all the boxes. Well, except maybe being anti-democratic. Perhabs the Loroi can send one of their units on first contact whose unit symbol is the swastika? It's simple and symmetric enough that they should have it, too.

The Loroi could make use of their telekinetics and pull a Telvanni mage on mankind. Just have the meeting room be unreachable for everyone that can't levitate like a normal person.

Teach them a universal language....like Klingon. Or Human trade languages that few people use or understand.

How about we keep it simple (and not too likely to cause diplomatic incidents)?
“Take me to your leader.”

Prepended by the well-known "We come in peace"... yea, right, given the overall situation?

Alex already did, praying to Mickey Mouse back on Page 90, I'm expecting Beryl to remember this at some point and it coming back to bite Alex  https://www.well-of-souls.com/outsider/outsider090.html

Should actually be "I come in peace, the rest of us... not so much".

Take us to your leaders, so that they may bicker over who gets to negotiate with us."

In the words of your great leader, Gandhi, as dictated in your most famous diplomacy simulators, "Our words are backed with nuclear weapons!"
