That's bad. Remember he doesn't trust the suit to handle his biological functions for fear it might be female specific. Though it seems weird to me to assume that congruent evolution has made everything match between humans and loroi including the form of the dangly bits. Whatever, the stroganoff is going to be making demands in a few hours and he's going to have to make some decisions under pressure.

What does it mean?
She remembered the alphabets and she'll later figure out what was written, or what Alex may say in future?
Re: Page 193: Space Stroganoff shifting around
She'll remember Micky Mouse and ask for an explanation once she knows what it means.

Considering the 20th century songs he sung when he was drifting in space I have adopted the head cannon that a 20th century fad is in full swing with the youth of year 2160.
I mean, look at contemporary music and movies and consider that things only tend to get worse going forward because for profit entertainment becomes monotonous due to always wanting to get assured monetary results.
As thus there is bound to be a retro fad the coming few years in both the music and movie industries

hi hi
Uhg... I do not envy anyone trying to perform bodily functions in freefall.
I still wouldn't trust the Historian Construct. Or at least, even if the Historian's intentions are good (which they might not be) I'm not sure if its suggestions are a good idea. Due to the relatively long travel times (for a sci fi) Alex has some free time to ponder the big questions, but he has already decided to throw his lot in with the Loroi, and being indecisive at a critical juncture probably isn't going to do him any favors.
I still remember having to sing a verse or two from "Happy Trails," at the end of the school day back in elementary school, so I can attest that something that you heard every day for a few years might come to mind without much effort.

The Mickey Mouse March is sort of a cultural icon. Written in 1955, the lyrics Jardin said when the remains of the Bellarmine were scuttled were from the version that played at the end of the Mickey Mouse Club show. Any kid who grew up watching that show would probably remember it. Also, I guess it fits with Jardin's penchant for being a bit informal. (It was also used ironically at the end of Full Metal Jacket)

Did she read the previous messages that would concern me of course she probably wouldn't know some of what was said.
Re: Page 193: Space Stroganoff shifting around
I don't think she actually used that tablet. Merely took it off Alex to check it for sharp edges and little pieces that could get in his airway. She did see the porn folder, though. As soon as she learns what the word means, sees an Ayy drawing somewhere and puts 2 and 2 together, her curiousity will be piqued.
Because she'll realise that something's up. Nobody would be so brash to have an alien porn folder on display when on a first contact mission. That's third contact, at least.

He sung mostly 80s songs, didn't he? Maybe mankind has just given up and accepted that this was the best decade of all time.dragoongfa wrote:Considering the 20th century songs he sung when he was drifting in space I have adopted the head cannon that a 20th century fad is in full swing with the youth of year 2160.

Major Tom was 1969, and Lady Marmalade was 1974.
But yes, t'was a fine decade, the 80's.

Re: Page 193: Space Stroganoff shifting around
Alex didn't quote the English version of the 1982 hit 'Major Tom' by Peter Schilling? I kinda assumed that he was spouting only lyrics in that panel.
Btw, between an Outsider crossover with Mortal Kombat or GTA: Vice City, which would you choose?

I listen to a lot of classical music myself partly of this reason.dragoongfa wrote: ↑Mon Mar 29, 2021 2:34 amConsidering the 20th century songs he sung when he was drifting in space I have adopted the head cannon that a 20th century fad is in full swing with the youth of year 2160.

I thought electro swing was the retro fad.
Re: Page 193: Space Stroganoff shifting around
How about electro sea shanty?
The Ur-Quan Masters finally gets a continuation of the story! Late backing possible, click link.
Re: Page 193: Space Stroganoff shifting around
No, the lyrics were from "Space Oddity" by David Bowie.
Never played either one.

Depending on just who owned the tablet, it's not impossible someone legitimately had a porn folder or something similar. The trip to get to Naam was 2 months, and there's precedent in modern militaries today of people bringing electronic contraband with them on field ops and missions. While if you get caught, you can get fucked up for it, the unspoken rule is that everyone brings it, and as long as you aren't caught, they don't care.Werra wrote: ↑Mon Mar 29, 2021 7:31 amI don't think she actually used that tablet. Anyway, I'd pick Mortal Kombat since contact between Earthrealm forces and the Union would be an extremely interesting affair. Hell, given what Kombat Tournaments are, the Teidar would absolutely love it, although the likes of Raiden, Sub Zero, and Scorpion might terrify them a bit.

So, what happens now?
Does Alex get some "Private time" with the pilots?
