Mizols Minzan Bazero

Post by Urist »

A quote from Arioch that I'd found in the Q&A thread gave me an idea. The quote:
I suspect that a lot of what the Loroi would find funny is slapstick, wacky non-sequitur Monty Python type stuff.
So, taking a few liberties with just how Soia Trade is conjugated:

...

Shortly after the annexation of Taben (more like 'conquest' if you ask some of them):

[a Taben resistance member, 'Toroin Narrat Ziradin', is spray-painting a protest message across the wall of a back alley. An Imperial patrol walks up, two Soroin led by a Mizol Romessat].

Romessat: <What's this, then? "Mizolon Bazen à Minzanel?" 'She who is watched, the house they go?'>

Narrat: (speaking aloud, nervously) "It saying 'Mizols go home.'"

Romessat: <No it doesn't.> [The two Soroin lean back against the other wall, getting comfortable.] <Come on, what's Trade for 'Sentinels'?>

Narrat: "...Mizolon?"

Romessat: [telekinetically tweaks the Narrat's ear]: <Plural! Come on, try again!>

Narrat: "Augh! I meaning 'Mizols!'"

Romessat: <Correct!> [writes on the wall] <Now, the word for 'home'?>

Narrat: "I writing 'Minzanel'!"

Romessat: <Ahh, but is this home a specific structure?>

Narrat: "...no?"

Romessat: <So you use the...?>

Narrat: "Indefinite word?"

Romessat: <Which is...?>

Narrat: "Minzan!"

Romessat: <Good!> [writes on wall] <Now, when a group all go, it is written...>

Narrat: "Baze!"

Romessat: [Aims the spray-paint can at the Narrat threateningly] <Imperative form!>

Narrat: [eyes flinch closed] "No instead... 'Bazero'?>

Romessat: <Yes! 'Mizols Minzan Bazero.'> [Writes on wall, steps back, admires handiwork] <Now write it out a hundred times.>

Narrat: "I'd nev— or I meaning 'Yes officer'!"

Romessat: <If it's not done by sunrise, I'll cut your hair off.> [Marches away]

*Hours pass*
Narrat: [collapses with exhaustion after writing the last letter] "All is being done now!"

Soroin: <Right. Now don't do it again!> [exits]

[Second patrol walks up, two different Soroin led by one Teidar]

[Soroins stare in shock; Teidar's eye twitches]

Narrat: "...did I got a word not right?"

[Narrat exits, Stage Right, pursued by Teidar]

Narrat Ziradin, meaning 'Noble.' As close of a translation as I can get for 'Brian.'

And the UFO scene would just be a very confused Narrat Ziradin getting taken for a joyride by two Historians on their first (and last, as it turns out) unsupervised shuttle flight).

[Ziradin stumbles out of the smoking wreckage, dazed.]

"As an online discussion about humor grows longer, the probability of a Monty Python reference approaches 1.":)

Do Loroi care that much about grammar? I assumed they consider spoken and written language secondary to Sanzai.

Alex: We were going over earth media. We found a documentary on spiders.

In the Shell's Fleet

CLICKY CLICKY: A Heavy Support Soldier unit was in the room as I went through the captured Hugh-Mons database. I found videos on spiders.

Why did Taben have significantly less bloody warfare compared to Deinar?
SpoilerShow
Because they had less land to fight over.

To recycle a joke I've heard long ago about US military branches:

Each loroi warrior caste is ordered to "Secure that building!"

The Soroin breach the walls in multiple locations, sweeping each room and garrisoning the building with fortified positions and riflewomen at each window.

The Tenoin put a high-altitude surveillance vessel on patrol far above the building, with a 2-craft strike package on standby to bomb any intruders.

The Gallen rig the building with explosives and tripwires, ready to blast it and any trespassers into low orbit.

The Mizol suborn one of the building maintenance technicians and have them install covert monitoring equipment throughout the structure.

The Doranzer install soft padding on every interior corner, add child-proof locks on the upper-floor windows, and put plastic covers over the power outlets.

The Teidar telekinetically flatten the building.

The Torrai nuke it from orbit, just to be sure.

And the Detair take out a 20-year lease with option to buy.

Oh, and since I noticed that the Detair caste (whose sole job it is to keep watch over the males) are listed as a 'warrior' caste:

Indignant Soroin: <You Detair only watch over males all day. Why are *you* considered to be 'warriors' like those who go into battle?>

Weary Detair: <If you had to put up with the little bastards for more than one night at a time, you'd understand.>
