Even 10 jumps back means a huge area to cover, let's say that one average each of those systems had jump points that lead to just 3 systems. With some simple maths the probability of finding the exact system that Prabhu is in falls to single digits before exploring a 5 jump radius.
As for Sanzai range, the insider says that on average it is 100 meters but that is the Sanzai range, not the detection range. For detection the range could be somewhat different. My hypothesis is that Tempo is trying to test if Alex is somehow a telepath and as such she hid herself from detection while trying to probe him from a distance.
Also the one who said that 'words are tools for deception' is Stillstorm who for all intents and purposes represents a very militant side of the Loroi.
I suppose you may be right. I was thinking "a few" as in 3 or 4, but that could still be problematic.
Whatever Tempo's (or Stillstorm's) game is, Beryl's expression is priceless!

Tempo joining them was clearly unexpected for Beryl so perhaps she wont be able to talk as openly as she originally planned http://well-of-souls.com/outsider/outsider101.html with Tempo there monitoring her.
Soo, I see the party is assembled (as shown on the "title" pic: Alex, Beryl, Tempo, Fireblade), so now they can take off to find the secret that saves them from the evil Klackons- err Umiak and potentially even brings them to the legendary Starsystem Orion itself! Oh, I should start Moo2 up again, playing my own beloved custom race :O
Shoegirl, could it really be?! Sadly, I'm guessing the person standing behind Tempo is probably the same person that handed Beryl her stuff and also opened the door to the shuttle umbilical.
I gotta be honest, I'm not sure if I trust Tempo right now. Say nothing about Stillstorm. Coming from a culture where words really are weapons, you have to wonder about someone who is so proficient with them.
One thing I am noticing once more just how dynamic the panels' compositions are. Lots of comics just do standard eye level points of view, with talking heads on one side or the other, but Outsider consistently breaks out of the mold.

Personally it looks like "OH GOD DAMN IT REALLY YOU JUST HAPPENED TO GET REASSIGNED NOW, NOW Ugh!?
On the quick page post, it actually follows the pattern, takes a (often long)while to get the new 3d scene made and then a bunch of pages featuring that scene in rather rapid succession....and then back to waiting for the next 3d scene to be finished, so we will probably enjoy a new page every two weeks or so for the next couple of months.

Also Ashrain is the only ship commander beside Stillstorm that are mentioned there. Why is that and why does she alone wear an amplifier on her head? My guess she are not done with this story yet.
Ashrain is related to the Emperor and is likely to be important to the story later.
It's also possible that Beryl's expression is due to what she was about to say. Saying something like that in earshot of Tempo would likely be a faux pas, regardless of whether or not Tempo is in Stillstorm's good graces.
It might also be that Tempo wants to be the one to expose Alex as an Umiak infiltrator, preferably in front of as large an audience as possible, to maximize the effect of discrediting the idea that Loroi are somehow not truly the inheritors of the Soia legacy.
Thinking of it as a faux pas may be projecting human decorum onto her. Sanzai is characterized by brutal honesty, not holding back what one thinks. I think Beryl is just directly expressing the truth of her feelings without deception or reservation. Though she may have just been admonished by Tempo for it as she entered. 'Leave the talking to those better suited for it.'
Kinda rough having to deal with a race that can think at each other. Can't be sure what you aren't seeing.
hehe I love this . . . tempo is also getting out of firestorm way too. Plus this little trip will provide more opportunities for tempo to learn about humanity and what they may offer to the Loroi.

don't think so, I believe it the opposite to proof alex is not a Umiak for those still doubting

Well... hopefully Beryl won't be thrown off-kiltered by having Tempo as an additional part of Alec's entourage of escorts ..
Maybe they can double-team him and get him to chat up a storm about the humanti and if they have any legends or histories that might reveal how they became 'stuck' in that neck of the galaxy

if words are weapon then she must be one hell of a redneck

here go her plan to marry Alex, have children build a own and live as an happy familly for the rest of his life... will be a hell of a surprise when she learn the lifespawn of a human...
It would be pretty disappointing to have Tempo show up and probably take away all of your conversation time with a friendly alien. It's a long trip... who are you going to talk to - Fireblade? Tragic!
