I agree. Something like the other RP's Character Thread with a little info on the ship would help. Doesn't have to be exhaustive right off the bat though. Just enough NPCs to get the story moving. You can always add them as the RP progresses.
well NPC and player alike because the way we created our player it kind of hard to remember who is who.
It is always the things you don't expect isn't it? I'll get working on a map of internal spaces and a crew list.
Concerning the system map, I made it myself.
If you feel that your post should take place before one that is already up, feel free to indicate that in a prelude and we can sort out the details afterwards.
The captain gave Donna the conn and is going to be leaving unless anyone stops him, but as of that moment, Donna is in charge of the bridge. You're free to send anyone messages on their commlink, but they may not answer right away if they are busy.
I guess Kam is maneuvering the ship even though the captain requested that he keep it in freefall for now. There is already a staff meeting scheduled with the department heads concerning the preliminary analysis in just under an hour now, as he mentioned over the shipwide comm system. I'm still trying to figure out what do have people say next in response, the dialogue has gotten a little bit odd. No doubt we'll work out these bugs shortly.
RCS stands for Reaction Control System, and are used for attitude adjustment.
The sensors are recording lots of data, but it requires people to review, analyze and determine what is actually in the data, whether it is important or not. If nobody is interested in anything that exists in the system, then I guess it is my fault.
Oh, a clarification on Kamn's piloting...all he did was turn the ship to an advantageous angle of retreat - if escape from the system is needed in a hurry. But he left the DeSoto in freefall though. I guess I needed to make that clearer.
If you would prefer, IceKatze I can change my post?
I don't know if I should have used a dice roll for the sensor reports...pretty much all she's doing is repeating the read-outs to the mission specialist (who I made a Lieutenant, feel free to change that ).
Also not sure if she should call the Captain back...I'm sure he'd want to know about this in any case. Guess I'll see what the specialist has to say.

Its ok sunphoenix, we can just roll with it. This is just the introduction segment anyway, where people get to know each other and get a feel for the setting.
There's not much need for a sensor roll unless there is something specific you are trying to find.
Well, I suppose if Count Casimir doesn't feel like getting involved right yet, I suppose Lillasoni could have suffered a concussion for now or something. That way, she could jump in again later if need be.

I just banned a large number of inactive users registered from the same IP's/domains and blocked those domains, so hopefully that will quiet them for a while.
I'm beginning to think sensor operator was not the best choice of position... Not much to do but keep scanning and relay results to the NPC sensor analyst.
but hmm you have other job right? other skill? Like my character is a shuttle operator but also an engineer/mechanic/trouble seeker (wait there not skill for that) So look up in your skill what else you can do. That kind of what i dislike in military setting, if you play it by the book you just need to do what the commander ask. But this setting allow for more flexibility (a little more)
Anyone on the ship who is looking at a sensor readout is probably going to be educated enough and smart enough to analyze the results. This is a scout ship, roughly 25% or more of the crew is going to be analyzing sensor readouts, and there will still be useful bits of information that slip through the cracks. It could take years to go over it all, just like in real life where they have whole teams of astronomers analyzing telescope data.
I wrote up a bunch of stuff to be found and uncovered, but I was thinking people would go looking for it. Oh well, my bad. We can just skip to the staff meeting and we'll get to the part where the solid waste hits the air recycler. Everyone likes explosions right?
Well ...as for Kam I'm all for RP Q & A over the details... but I did not see Kam being the one to start it. I figured I'd wait until the Sensor Tech Operator came in ...AND the Loroi liaison and play off the ensuing interaction RP. A little disappointed no one has ...stepped up to the bat on this Staff meeting RP. I'd prefer more info before we get into a space battle with the DeSoto... a NON-Military Target with only half the G capacity of all the other ships we are likely to meet and only token weaponry at best!
