I wouldn't be surprised if the Historian construct decides to troll Beryl, but even if that's the case, I have a feeling that the house of cards is only going to have a more spectacular collapse, the longer it keeps building up.

Either he found a second pad, or he took it out again (but movement looks like he's about to pik it up from the "floor").

I guess I'll have to wait until I get to read what's happening.

This thing looks like a ration packet. The pad would have straighter lines and more rectangular form.

Considering the biochemical differences between humans and loroi interesting things could happen once he opens that ration pack. For a human the content could be yummy but for a loroi it could perhaps stink up the place.

Alex got dressed in pilot colours? A subtle flex by the aerodynamic duo, or just pure coincidence?

According to page 149 it was one of the emergency spares from the shuttle, so it's more than likely simply pilot caste colored by default.
