He already kinda-sorta did to Fireblade, but she shoved him away with telekinesis. Plus, Beryl hasn't yet been seen in Chapter 2.

As a member of a support caste (and a particularly valuable one at that, given her recording abilities), one can imagine that Beryl would not be put in harm's way if something bad was going to happen. That rather explains why Fireblade and Reed were dispatched to retrieve Alex. Question is, where are they going?

Of course, Alex vomiting might occur no matter where they're going.

though it funny my guess is more about moving him to safety. maybe the Tempest reached a "resupply base" and it standard procedure to wear armor when transferring "prisoner"

That or they fear the Golim on board such station will try to attack Alex (guess why :) )

Alex is the only sapient biological being that the Loroi have ever encountered that is more or less immune to telepathy. Even if he's given his "word of honor" (which Stillstorm so eloquently derided) that he's a nice person, the Loroi have no reason to trust him. So sending two security officers to escort him, one of which is a particularly powerful Teidar, is pretty logical.

Have they finally reached Azimol or wherever the Barsam and the Umiak were both talking about?

Also: what sort of stuff is Alex going to take with him? There's his clothes, and his sleeping mat with the notes scribbled on it, and the marker, and maybe some of the more edible food, but otherwise he has nothing in the way of material belongings.

I assume these are some anime references I'm not getting or am I mistaken?

Well a more accurate reference would be hammering Alex. But there is no real Anim reference

The "Doranzer" was more of an: MEDIC! reference from Starship trooper

Found out another Disturbing possibility.

That the Umiak indeed found a way to mask themselves from Loroi detection. and that some of them were inside the bellarmine Wreckage when the tempests came in. They manage to infiltrate the loroi "Away team" ship and now are onboard the Tempest. The crew found evidence of that. Rhat why they have heavy armor on, and are moving Alex to a more secure area.

So they are not only telepathically invisible, but they also can disguise themselves as Loroi/make themselves invisible to the Loroi eye well enough to get past the eyes of the Loroi inspecting the wreckage of the Bellarmine?

Doesn't seem all that likely. Of course, Alex is a prime candidate for an infiltrator of this sort, although after close inspection from the Tempest's eager medical personnel involving long pointy metal probes it should be pretty obvious by now that he's an actual "alien" species rather than a shapeshifting Umiak or some hedgehoggery like that.

I can think of more credible possibilities than that as to why Alex' security detail is now clad in armor. They could be simply approaching a strategically important system, and are making absolutely certain that the strange alien isn't an Umiak infiltrator that's, I dunno, brainwashed to destroy valuable-looking things at first possible opportunity. (One wonders, of course, why he hasn't by now simply attacked Stillstorm herself or something if he's had the ability and opportunity--possibly he's simply waiting to find more important stuff before going through his telekinetic/telepathic assault on everything the Loroi hold dear. What's to say the alien doesn't have secret powers that we're unable to detect? His mind is impossibly shielded, after all...) Or maybe the armor's just formal attire, and he's being taken to see the emperor. Step right up, make your guess, claim your prize. It's sort of a blind man's bluff right now, until Page 99 finally gets released...

What evidence do you have for this belief?
Seriously ... I don't see anything to support that, beyond Fireblade not deigning to talk to the alien (aka lesser lifeform), and requiring lower-ranked Loroi to talk to it for her, because that's not something she needs to do.

Edit: Also, Fireblade was one of the GURPS sheets from a ways back. Admittedly I'm not super familiar with GURPS, but I'm pretty sure that being deaf and/or mute is the kind of thing that would get noted on the sheet, and it wasn't.

Perhaps Arioch deemed that particular trait too spoilerful to be added to the GURPS sheet. Although I agree with you 100%.

My opinion? All that concept art of the emperor's gonna be used pretty soon...

Alex walks out of his cell.

"Hey."
"...Hello. Who are you?"
"Greywind, fourth Emperor of the Loroi Nation."
"Oh."
"Yeah."
"Well, that's pretty cool."

As far as Fireblade, there's actually PLENTY of evidence for her being mute. I don't think it's true, myself, though--I look forward to the page when she speaks for the first time.

Now I'm curious, though. I wonder how the Loroi react to children born mute? I can't imagine it's seen as much of a disability, but then, I'm not sure. Arioch?
Kid would grow up honest, that's for sure.

Such as?

Most definitely. Either it's gonna be played for emotion ("Save yourself, Ensign! I shall hold off the Umiak alone and die with your memory in my mind!") or for utter anticlimax/comedy ("What musician is that you're listening to?" "Well, this is a vinyl record from Neutral Milk HotelYOU CAN TALK?!")

Not really all that much might happen. Loroi unable to operate their vocal cords probably would be more accepted than Loroi unable to operate their telepathic dinglehoppers, given the Loroi fondness to telepathy. Might even be a fairly common trait among the Teidar, not only unwilling but also unable to speak "normally." Although I wouldn't presume to make assumptions--I'm just typing this because I'm bored and procrastinating.

Uh, guys, it flat out says the following this about Fireblade on the "Cast" page:

As is customary among the Unsheathed, Fireblade rarely speaks, preferring to use telepathy exclusively.

So, I take that as she is quite capable of speech, she just chooses to not do so.

Guys all I meant by evidence was that she hasn't actually spoken. That does fall under the purview of evidence, if not proof.

And of course, I really don't think she's mute.

Dammit. You made me choke.

Although I don't know what the Loroi attitude would be towards physical attractiveness and the complimenting thereof. For all we know, Graywind could immediately set up a mating encounter between Alex and Ashrain. After all, he is the human plenipotentiary and ambassador--quite an impressive post (once the whole "verify this alien's story" business gets put aside), even if humans are kinda technologically backward. We still look pretty much like Loroi.

Of course, genetically it probably wouldn't work out in the end, but this is a webcomic dammit. If we can have blue-skinned telepathic alien space elves, we can have fertile offspring from cross-species interaction. Especially with Loroi medical technology behind us.

What I mean to say is, shipping Alex/Ashrain isn't exactly out of the question.
