The ships of the Loroi Battle Fleet are built for speed and hard-hitting long-range firepower, are crewed by expertly-trained Loroi warriors, and directed by Farseers who can detect enemy movements at extreme range. Like the Loroi warriors themselves, Loroi ships have esoteric "spoken names", patterned after ancient heroes, traditional weapons and styles of fighting, and weather patterns (wind and rain having spiritual connections for the early Loroi); rough equivalents are used for translation. Loroi warships are colored green and silver, emblematic of the Loroi Soroin warrior caste.

The Loroi Battle Fleet consists of six Sector fleets (Minzan, Maoren, Maiad, Mannad, Tinza, and Seren) plus a large mobile Reserve (the Tellai Fleet). The sector fleets are mostly defensive in nature; the bulk of offensive Loroi forces are either with the Seren or Maiad Sector Fleets (the two major fronts with the Umiak), or the Tellai Reserve which is constantly being re-deployed to hotspots. The Emperor's flagship and her personal squadron (the Teigo Enzin or "First Guard") are often deployed with the Reserve. Since the start of the war, the Emperor typically spends more time aboard her flagship than in the capital on Deinar III. For major offensive operations, new fleets are formed, and often named after the operation. A fleet consists of one or more divisions, each of which typically contain 3-6 groups. Groups are typically organized into 3-6 squadrons of 6-8 vessels each, and are often specialized in terms of unit type. Battle groups contain a larger proportion of heavy warships, particularly battleships. Strike groups are optimized for speed and chiefly consist of cruisers and battlecruisers (and their escorts).

Data current as of July 2160 CE, at the time of the Bellarmine Incident. This is not an exhaustive list of active vessels, but does include most of the major classes in action on this date. Small craft & ordnance listed are typical for the class, but will vary by individual vessel and deployment requirements.

Many Loroi vessels house weapons in turrets with multiple mounts; in the entries below, "04x2" indicates four twin turrets, with a total of 8 weapon mounts.

See this page for descriptions of weapon mounts.

AMM Missiles

Note: Commissioned in 2145, Vortex was the first vessel to carry both the heavy Wave Loom device and the new Pulse Cannons. Like its contemporary Saber battlecruiser, Vortex was fast but poorly protected and suffered disproportionate losses during the Semoset campaign. In 2152-4 there was a short run of improved models to serve as command ships for fast strike groups, and the few surviving members of the original class were refitted this standard. Tempest is now the last surviving ship of the class.

Halberd Mk.17
"Lerril-ZP"
Class: Battleship (BB)
Length: ~600 m
Dry Weight: ~800 kt
Crew: ~600

02 Warhead Launchers

Small Craft & Ordnance
04 Standard Shuttles
48
Torpedoes
64
AMM Missiles

Note: In her prime, the Halberd was the premier fast battleship of her day. Due to the mobile nature of Loroi defensive tactics in this conflict, this oft-updated design has remained the backbone of the Loroi defensive fleet for most of the war, but production ceased with the introduction of the newer Greatsword. Unable to upgrade to modern heavy weaponry such as the pulse cannon due to power limitations, the Halberd has remained in service due to its survivability and comparatively high speed, and is sometimes used as a fleet torpedo platform.

Greatsword
"Gelimer"
Class: Heavy Battleship (BB)
Length: ~600 m
Dry Weight: ~1,000 kt
Crew: ~600
Screens: Class IV

Small Craft & Ordnance
36 Fighters*
04 Standard Shuttles
200 Torpedoes
200 AMM Missiles

Note: *Mix of Interceptors, Attack Craft and Heavy Fighters.

This fast Strike Carrier was designed to be able to keep up with mobile strike groups and provide fighter cover comparable to that of a heavy carrier. However, the reduced role played by fighters post-Semoset has led to relatively few of these expensive units being produced.

Fuel Capacity: 200

Note: *10 G Max with unprotected passengers. The Conveyer has a large heated, pressurized cargo space that is intended for bulk supplies, but can be reconfigured to carry personnel. The hull is not streamlined, so this shuttle cannot enter atmosphere except under emergency conditions.

Slipper
"Lillit"
Class: Trans-Atmospheric Shuttle (Skiff)
Length: 30 m
Dry Weight: 100
t
Crew: 2
Passengers: 20-40
Screens: none
Max. Acceleration: 10 G
Fuel Capacity: 50

Note: This is a streamlined craft designed for efficient planetary landings and takeoffs. It has limited performance and endurance outside atmosphere. It is most commonly carried by orbital stations or passenger transports, but many capital ships will carry at least one in place of a standard shuttle.

Highland
"Rosanrer"
Class: VIP Transport Shuttle (Pinnace)
Length: 50 m
Dry Weight: 400
t
Crew: 2-10
Passengers: 20-60
Screens: Class i
Max. Acceleration: 20 G
Fuel Capacity: 200

Note: This large transport shuttle is streamlined for atmospheric operation and is equipped with inertial dampers to allow for extended high-acceleration with passengers. Its size and cost tends to limit its allocation to bases and large command ships, and it is used to transport high-value passengers or cargoes.
