Vortex was the first vessel to carry both the heavy Wave Loom device and the new Pulse Cannons.
Like its contemporary Saber battlecruiser, Vortex was
fast but poorly protected and suffered disproportionate losses during the
Semoset campaign. In 2152-4
there was a short run of improved models to serve as command ships
for fast strike groups, and the few surviving members of the
original class were refitted this standard. Tempest is now the last surviving ship of the class. |

Note: In her prime,
the Halberd was the premier fast battleship of her day. Due
to the mobile nature of Loroi defensive tactics in this conflict,
this oft-updated design has remained the backbone of the Loroi
defensive fleet for most of the war, but production ceased with the
introduction of the newer Greatsword. Unable to upgrade to
modern heavy weaponry such as the pulse cannon due to power
limitations, the Halberd has remained in service due to its
survivability and comparatively high speed, and is sometimes used as
a fleet torpedo platform.

fleet, designed to replace the hardy but aging Halberd. It
lacks the speed of the raider vessels, but has formidable defensive
and offensive
capabilities (mounting superheavy batteries normally carried only by
Citadels), and can stand toe-to-toe with the heaviest of Umiak
units.

This fast Strike Carrier was
designed to be able to keep up with mobile strike groups and provide

role played by fighters post-Semoset has led to relatively few of these
expensive units being produced.

Note: Fielded
in very large numbers during the Semoset campaign (2144-2146), the Saber
was a hybrid battlecruiser/carrier, and one of the first Loroi
vessels to mount the new Pulse Cannons. Fast and well armed, it was
poorly protected and suffered heavy losses in massed fleet
battles at the close of the Semoset offensive. Like the Vortex
class, after Semoset the Saber was mostly restricted to fast attack
duty.

03x2 Fighter Laser Cannon
04 Weapon Hardpoints
Note:
Fighters do not have jump drives, and carry only limited fuel, so
are dependent on carrier craft. As fighters are too small to carry inertial dampers, Loroi fighter
pilots wear a hardsuit filled with a liquid breathing medium to
allow them to withstand the extreme stresses of acceleration.

02 Weapon Hardpoints
Note: This
versatile light fighter lacks the extended range and endurance of
the larger Tornado, but is compact and can be carried by many types
of warships in place of a standard shuttle. It is most often
deployed in the point defense role, armed with AMM missiles.
|
Banshee "Nimai"

Note:
Attack craft are anti-ship fighters, armed primarily with torpedoes.
As they must survive in proximity of enemy vessels, attack craft are
typically equipped with defensive screens and ECM modules.
Each fighter hardpoint can mount a single short-range torpedo, a
rack of 3 or 6 AMM missiles, a race of 2 or 3 USR torpedoes, or a specialty ordnance module.

with unprotected passengers. This general-purpose
shuttle is carried by most Loroi warships, and used for a variety of
missions. It has minimal streamlining to allow for safe planetary
landings, but is intended primarily for exo-atmospheric use.
On any shuttle, the number of
passengers accommodated depends on how the seating is arranged.
|
Conveyer "Mizito"
Class:
Heavy Transport Shuttle (Cargo Lighter)
Length: 50 m
Dry Weight: 350 t

Note:
*10 G Max
with unprotected passengers. The Conveyer has a
large heated, pressurized cargo space that is intended for bulk
supplies, but can be reconfigured to carry personnel. The hull is not
streamlined, so this shuttle cannot enter atmosphere except under
emergency conditions. |
Slipper "Lillit"
Class: Trans-Atmospheric
Shuttle (Skiff)
Length: 30 m
Dry Weight: 100 t
Crew: 2
Passengers: 20-40
Screens: none
Max. Acceleration: 10 G
Fuel Capacity: 50Note: This is a
streamlined craft designed for efficient planetary landings and takeoffs. It has
limited performance and endurance outside atmosphere. It is most commonly
carried by orbital stations or passenger transports, but many capital
ships will carry at least one in place of a standard shuttle. |
Highland "Rosanrer"
Class: VIP
Transport Shuttle (Pinnace)
Length: 50 m
Dry Weight: 400 t
Crew: 2-10
Passengers: 20-60
Screens: Class
i
Max. Acceleration: 20 G
Fuel Capacity: 200
Note: This large
transport shuttle is streamlined for atmospheric operation and is equipped
with inertial dampers to allow for extended high-acceleration with
passengers. Its size and cost tends to limit its allocation to bases and large command
ships, and it is used to transport high-value passengers or cargoes. |
Intruder "Dozobadi"

Used to transport marines for
boarding actions, usually against crippled vessels or large space
platforms with limited maneuverability. Boarding actions in the
current war are very rare, as captains on both sides tend to
self-destruct rather than be captured.
