As promised, here is the Cydonia Rising out of character (ooc) thread, as the RP discussion thread is a bit crammed, I think and its necessary to sum up the informations about the game. I will post new background informations here and open a IC thread when the game starts. I hope thats ok. I might also change information here, as this is not finished.
Rules and tips:
We will use the 3rd edition of BESM (Big Eys Small Mouth) ruleset and each character will start with 320 points. If you need the rulebook, just send me a PM.

Modus operandi, or how to play:
As soon as the game starts, I will create a Cydonia Rising campaign on http://invisiblecastle.com, just in case we need to roll some dices

The XP System:
1 - Post count, every ten full posts is 1 xp.
2 - Milestones in the game - this range from 1-3 xp - and is handed out by Suederwind when you have achived an minor or important plotpoint in the story that is in a way related to your character. This is something Suederwind will reward I expect through PM.
3 - Story award, this is a standard 1-15 xp depending on how the story chapter went, you can never fail an adventure, the higher xp award is given out when you roleplay to the fullest and achieve something for the group whatever the outcome. And is posted at the end of the "chapter" buy Suederwind.

Note: This is a streamlined craft designed for efficient planetary landings and takeoffs. It has limited performance and endurance outside atmosphere. It is most commonly carried by orbital stations or passenger transports, but many capital ships will carry at least one in place of a standard shuttle.

Short range Shuttle craft with trans-atmospheric capabilities. Used for boarding partys, away teams and so on. Can start and land on a planet, but is not build for long atmospheric flights. The shuttle on board the Cydonia is inofficially named "Calypso"

Esplanation:
(A)a small, grey, mercury like planet and its nearly equal sized moon, nicknamed Huginn and Muninn by the crew of Cydonia.
(B)the purple gas giant, Cydonia is orbiting. It has a strong magnetic field and a thin ring made of ice, nicknamed Odin. Only some small, former asteroids as moons.
(C)an asteroid belt, surrounding the system.
(1)the jumpzone to the Steppes region of space. (~5-6h of flight time, some hidden sensor probes are placed around it)
(2)the jumpzone to the human sphere of influence. (a bit closer to Cydonia, ~2-3h of flight time)

The Humans:
Three months after the events in the Naam System, humanitys mission to search contact seems to have failed. Only the tanker Prabhu and the lonely scout vessel Utsumi returned home, with no sign of the other scouts, the Loroi or the Umiak. While mankinds government debated about what to do next, the colonial fleet prepared a series of three "checkpoints" in systems that anyone would have to cross to get to Esperanza. These checkpoints (Alpha, Beta and Gamma) consists of an array of sensor probes and a patrol vessel. Ready to alarm humanity, slow down the enemy or make contact with whatever might come that way, the ECS-096 Cydonia waits in the Hellespont System (aka "Checkpoint Beta") for relief, after almost 3 months of eventless service there. Orbiting the purple gas giant in that system, Cydonias Captain hopes that the planets strong magnetic field will trick any enemy long enough for them to reach the nearby jump zone back home. Just two days before Cydonias mission comes to an end, two unknown vessels enter the system and immediately start fighting each other. As the fighting ends, both ships have been destroyed and a strange message is received from a small craft: "Terra Lenzos Liron Pennin, Til Tethair Bishires Tilleit...", which was repeated shortly after, in English! Although unsure about the meaning of this message, Captain Blake gives the order to set a course to that lonely craft...
The Loroi:
On their way to finally establish diplomatic contact with "humaniti" and learn more about those strangely familiar looking pink aliens, the "Totor" -class frigate "Argent Fire" takes a course based on the informations that have been obtained from the lone alien survivor of the Naam incident. The small ship and its a bit unusual crew (too many high ranking diplomats and scientists for such a small vessel) stumbled over a lonely Umiak light destroyer, obviously searching in the same direction. Although outgunned, they have been able to destroy the enemy, but the "Argent Fire" suffered heavy damage and only few crewmembers could escape the following destruction of the frigate, as its reactor-control failed. Stuck on a small and damaged shuttle, their only hope is that alien ship with its unknown markings, that slowly approaches them...
The regular crew of the Argent Fire is young and inexpirienced, but the Mizol and Listel cast member are higher ranking than usual. The ship was selected because it has the necessary range and a more impressive ship or a fleet was labeled as scary by that alien diplomat.
