@Arioch:
Out of curiosity: How long did it take you to draw/colorize Alex and Beryl in that picture?

Drawing and inking takes an hour or two or three, depending on how well the subjects are cooperating, and 20-30 minutes to flat-color.Suederwind wrote:Out of curiosity: How long did it take you to draw/colorize Alex and Beryl in that picture?
Re: WIP Discussion (Part 1!)
I suspect Alex is usually very uncooperative.Drawing and inking takes an hour or two or three, depending on how well the subjects are cooperating, and 20-30 minutes to flat-color.

No, I don't find that very helpful. Cel-shaded color is somewhat abstract and usually bears little resemblance to what a real 3D-rendered figure model would look like (which, I think is why computer-generated cel shading almost always looks terrible). I do sometimes use stand-in figure models in the scenes for scale reference when drawing, but not for coloring.Suederwind wrote:Do you use some kind of 3d model as stand-in for shading in the next step?

With the risk of sounding truculent....IS there any WIP?

WIP was posted in February.
Re: WIP Discussion (Part 1!)
tucker, don't worry, this is a normal part of outsider here where their are "extended" times between pages and WIP posts. I believe Everyone here is still post here acknowledges that.

You know, for all the salacious ideas that inevitably fly about, it seems like the body temperature mismatch might provide a real and hard to overcome obstacle to an serious physical intimacy.

Fire and Ice is a thing. There might be some initial weirdness, but no more so than you'd get with odd or new pairings. There are people on Earth right now, right now that are attracted to bridges. Bridges.

In all seriousness the coolness could be an obstacle but it all depends on how tolerant each species is with these particular temperatures. Loroi are 9 degrees cooler than humans but in human terms that's 'pleasantly cool', that's an environmental temperature we tend to go out while wearing t-shirts. The problem would be with the Loroi and how tolerant they are with a temperature that is nine degrees higher than their body temperature. Humans can't stand a temperature that is 9 degrees higher than their body temperature, that kind of environmental temperatures are found only in heatwaves and we know that those temperatures can be lethal without precautions.
Iirc Arioch once said that humans and Loroi generally have the same temperature tolerances for survival purposes. Our planets seem to have the same environmental temperatures as well, if I am to judge by the insider, if that's the case I don't think that the Loroi would feel the same discomfort with a +9 temperature but they would probably still sweat a lot.
Then again, maybe the Loroi can get really 'heated' when mating. Who knows.

Well, there was an interior view as well. And AFAIK there was a new word printed on the hatch: Baistad.

Couldn't find a translation of it in the Lexicon so, Arioch, can you tell us the meaning?
Also, is the six-pointed star logo on the hatch a warning of sorts?

hi hi
It's happening!
What is Beryl saying? "Well, excuuuuuse me princess. Err, captain."
Seriously though, judging from the sketchy dialogue stand-ins, I am guessing we're going to get an explanation on the Loroi concepts of luck.
